Day 1
Travel to Ireland via Holyhead with an overnight stay in the Dublin area.
Day 2
Today we travel across country to the spa town of Lisdoonvarna. The waters here are meant to have a restorative effect on those that bathe in them. An excellent base from which to explore the area, Lisdoonvarna is most popular during the annual matchmaking festival every September when full use is made of the towns traditional pubs and bars. Break your journey heading west by stopping off at Athlone in Ireland’s Lakelands region, a busy town on the banks of the River Shannon, before arriving at your hotel in the mid-afternoon.
Day 3
Excursion to Galway city. Time to explore the cobbled streets and bustling city centre, or simply unwind on the promenade and relax on the beach. This cosmopolitan city simply has something for everyone and is well worth a full day visit, returning in time for our evening meal.
Day 4
Today we head south to the River Shannon and Limerick city which has over 800 years of history and a diverse culture. Take time to do some exploring with a local walking or river tour and learn more about King John and his imposing castle from the 13th century that looks down on the city. Today’s Limerick offers all the refined retail experiences you will find in a modern city and an abundance of cafes and bars.
Day 5
Today we leave Lisdoonvarna and head back towards Dublin, arriving mid-afternoon and allowing time to explore the capital city during the afternoon and to sample the legendary nightlife.
Day 6
After breakfast we return to the ferry terminal and the return crossing to the UK.
